THIS IS WHAT MAKES US GIRLS

GIRLS

GIRLS by thesecretteaparty

Happy Tuesday lovelies! I wanted to share some things I've been loving so far this month, some of these I actually don't possess yet but they are definitely on my wish list and I've been lusting after them!

The notebook in all its pastel pink glory is by ClapClapDesign on etsy, I adore the design with the illustrated animals, the size is also just too perfect, I love popping little notebooks in my bag or having a stack of them to hand on my bedside table (does anyone else find inspiration/idea/reminders hit you in the middle of the night?)

I'm loving bright, pastel nails, in fact I can't get enough of all the Topshop nail colours, I think I have a slight addiction (I desperately need to buy another clear acrylic nail polish storage stand to store all the stray bottles, what is that all about?!)

Lorde's Pure Heroine is an album I cannot stop listening to, that's not a bad thing though, although my dancing/singing to it playing in hmv proved slightly embarrassing. My lovely OT bought this for me (thanks, Matt!) and it's been played over and over,  it's one of those cds I can't leave the house with *cue mini road trip singing to all the tracks*

Now, I don't own this particular record player,  or any record player *puts it higher on wishlist* but it's just perfect and after spying it in Urban Outfitters over December I've fallen head over heels for this floral beauty and wanting to buy all those pretty records for it, you know the ones I mean.

These shoes are basically what you'd find on my tootsies as a little girl with mega long hair and frilly ankle socks, and you know what, I want them back in my life. They're amazing, they're super cute, they make me want to wear tea dresses, braid my hair and make daisy chains lying in the grass whilst listening to the Virgin Suicides dreamy soundtrack. Ohh yeah.

Girls, the tv show, it's genuis. If you haven't seen it yet, I won't include any spoilers but only suggest that you immediately add it to your wish/watchlist because you're sure to love it! It's quirky, it's super honest, it's different, it's pretty and grungy at the same time. I love the characters, I love the soundtrack and since last January I've had the urge to dance around my bedroom to Dancing On My Own, cheers Lena Dunham, you're awesome.

JUST AS A FLOWER DOES NOT CHOOSE ITS COLOUR

Hello lovelies, hope you're enjoying this lovely late summer we're having, my jumpers are on hold and my sandals are back out. I wanted to share something I've been working on lately, this Stoker illustration. Ever since I watched the film with Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman & Matthew Goode I've been slightly obsessed with it, such a beautifully put together piece of cinema. India is such an intriguing character in her collared shirts with black and white shoes and yellow pencils which she carries around in a leather satchel.

It is available to buy as an a4 print in my etsy shop and just a reminder that all a4 prints are currently 2 for 1.

I'm working on so many illustrations lately that I can't wait to share with you darlings. Have a lovely week.

TIGERPRINT HAND DRAWN COMPETITION ♥

These are the illustrations I did for the lovely Hand Drawn Tigerprint competition. I've been lucky enough to be featured on their blog before now with the Tea & Crayons lovelies! It was a really fun and creative way to spend my afternoons and gave me the opportunity to experiment with my great love for typography as well as look at other colours I'd not used before- like pink and green! I like the combination, it's fresh and modern and I think it's turned out pretty well :)

i spent my halloween indoors, after a short walk amongst the loveliest autumn leaves. we had sweets, pop and a huge stack of halloween films to get through. eventually we sifted through the over gory ones and the day was filled with sleepy hollow, edward scissorhands and to finish off practical magic. hope everyone's halloween was lovely! ♥

♥ iridescent sparkles

Since being quite poorly I thought I'd post some things that have cheered me up these past few days. Tuesday night I watched My Bluberry Nights with Matt in the flat all wrapped up and then we had some leftover chocolate torte- yes I know it wasn't blueberry pie and homemade vanilla icecream but it did sort of fit in with the theme. I liked the soundtrack so maybe I'll buy it in January when I have enough money.

This is a sample of one of the shirts I've been wanting to get from Norwich when I go again, to wear with some comfy black jeans that I already have and it'd be perfect as there's no loose sleeves to get in the way of drawing and making things as I do this everyday. Artbox have got some gorgeous stuff on their website and there's a little shop up Steep Hill that sells all these little artbox nicknacks and other lovely little things that prove hard to find. It has a little blue door and blue windows and Me and Ness can't resist popping in there to have a little peak whenever we have a spare five minutes ( or in our case a spare afternoon!) I'm in the middle of designing a sublte little card to congratulate Ness on moving to a new house and being all lovely and grown up.

It's breaking my heart that there's so many pretty dresses at the Topshop online sale and they're only size 6 or 8 or worse Out Of Stock, three little words I hate. They make me all tearful. I don't think am gonna post any now that I like. Shoes, perhaps? Shoes are a safe option but all the ones that fit as the magic slipper seem to disappear from sight too- I think I should maybe order some Irregular Choice ones in the New Year and that shall be my New Year's resolution- to walk in heels! To grin and bear it! However ridiculous that may sound. There were some beautiful Cinderella glass slippers I found on a fancy dress website- quite cheap, but decent for a night out when I want to feel all princessy, like am in fairytale. It's a healthy medicine.

Films of the moment that have been helping me get through being all tucked up in bed and sniffly are: The Little Mermaid- that has been a strong favorite since I was very little, I love it, it never ceases to disappoint me.

Ever After- this is such a lovely film, but it's an acceptable fairytale that dips in to Cinderella but because you've got the lovely Drew Barrymore it seems abit more grown up and you don't have to come up with excuses like why you wish you were there and wearing that fantastical ball gown with all that lovely iridescent glitter.

To try and get my sense of smell back I bought a nice little pot of solid fragrance called American Cream from my local Lush shop- I couldn't resist! It's just a little vanilla dream all whipped up in a pot and I have the conditioner! Ohhh smells gorgeous! It makes me feel so much better.

♥ handed in the biotechnology illustration yesterday. it's a book of fawn girls but didn't turn out like i wanted. redo natasha!

♥ could do with another night out, but want ness to come too :(
